At last week’s Digital London conference, I gave a presentation entitled “Beyond Adoption: Social Business Processes”. The video below is a recording of the same presentation.
The point I make in this presentation is that while most of the attention towards enterprise social networks so far has been about driving adoption – getting people onto the network in the first place – the bigger question is “what are they going to do when they get there?”. My assertion is that these networks need to become a place where real work gets done, and therefore need to host real business processes. But simply taking existing processes and moving them to a social network without change is missing the great opportunity that social networking provides. Instead, you should consider how the social aspects of the network benefit and reshape the process.
